Raquel Lechner (born in Switzerland in 2009) is an international clarinet soloist, chamber musician, and percussionist. She gave her orchestral debut as a soloist at age ten with the Kinderorchester Rüti ZH. She has since performed at international festivals including Allegro Vivo for Rotary International in Zwettl (2024, 2025), the Clarimondo Festival opening concert (2025), and the International Summer Academy (2026). At the "Herbst in der Helferei" festival in Zurich, she played solo clarinet in Saint-Saëns' The Carnival of the Animals alongside members of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. In chamber music, she won first prize at OSEW (2022) with Trio Meraly (flute, clarinet, bassoon) and first prize at Prima la Musica (2026) with the clarinet quartet Reedlines. Music for her is a special language full of emotion. She began playing clarinet at age six under Francine Brunner (Music School Zurich Oberland) and Letizia Zoppis. Since 2024, she has been a pre-college student at mdw Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) with Prof. Christoph Moser. Since 2026, she has also been pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Forum Musikae Madrid with Prof. Nicolas Baldeyrou and Ferran Garcerà Parelló, alongside completing school at Academia Matura Zurich. A winner of numerous competition prizes, she won first prize with distinction (25/25 points) at SJMW in 2026 (performing at the winners' concert, which was recorded by SRF), reached the SJMW finals in 2022 and 2024 (winning first prize and the Ruth and Ernst Burkhalter Foundation special award), and received support from the Fritz Gerber Foundation. Outside music, she enjoys mountain sports and ballet.
